The Myrtles Plantation
This story I'm about to tell you is a ghost story about a judge named Clark Woodruffe and a slave named Chloe. Chloe was a slave that worked as a maid for Judge Woodruffe and his family. Also, while Judge Woodruffe was having an affair with another female slave, Chloe began eavesdropping through the doors and walls on the judges' conversations. She was afraid since the judge was having an affair with another slave , that Chloe might be sent to work in the fields. One day, Chole got caught eavesdropping on the judges conversations. When she got caught , she served an punishment and got her ear cut off. She began wearing a turban to hide the wound inflicted by the judge. Next, in a birthday cake for the Woodruffe's oldest daughter, Chloe added a small amount of poison into the birthday cake mix. And served it. She thought it would make the women in the family sick and she would be the hero to make them feel better. But it didnt happened. the three women succumed the poison and died. The word spread amongst the other slaves on what Chloe had done. A lynch mob came and hung Chole from a tree. chloe body was weighted with rocks and dropped in the nearby Mississippi River. Now people believe that when Chloe poisoned the cake , she meant to do it to get revenge back on the judge from her ear being cut off. And if the judge was there to, he would've been killed too. The belief goes on..
